Steer on numbers
Gut feeling doesn't build resilience: insights do. Our scientifically grounded Culture Scan reveals the hidden drivers behind your organization's security behavior. With actionable insights, we empower you to close gaps, track progress, and embed security into your culture. Because understanding your people is the first step toward measurable, lasting behavioral change.
Culture Scan
The Culture Scan measures key drivers like attitudes, knowledge, social norms, and behavior. It uncovers how employees think and act on security, privacy, and compliance, showing both your current security culture and your potential for improvement.
Turn insights into action
The results fuel practical next steps, including learning advice, leadership sessions, communication campaigns, and tailored focus points for simulations. It's also a powerful tool to support stakeholder management and demonstrate progress to leadership.

Whether you're a small team or a global organization, the Culture Scan helps track improvements in security behavior, demonstrate return on investment, and build long-term resilience with data your leadership can trust.
Let's make it insightful
At Awareways, data-driven insights are at the core of our approach, ensuring that security awareness and compliance programs deliver measurable impact.
Strategy & impact
Every answer you need
The Culture Scan is a scientifically designed questionnaire based on the psychological model, the Theory of Planned Behavior by Icek Ajzen. It has been scientifically validated in collaboration with the research field of information security and privacy and has been continuously improved over the course of 10 years.
Using the scan, several concepts are measured from the employees' perspective, such as attitude, knowledge, and experience related to working securely with information. This provides in-depth insight into how employees experience security and privacy measures and expectations — from their own perspective as well as that of colleagues, supervisors, and executives.
The Culture Scan is anonymous by design, which is why employees participate on a voluntary basis. There are no cookies or tracking; designed to reduce bias and encourage honest input by ensuring full anonymity.
The Culture Scan is designed for all devices and is easy to complete in 8 to 10 minutes, thanks to a streamlined question flow.
To boost Culture Scan participation, we advise to use psychological principles like authority and social proof in your reminders and to send these reminders from different sources (security team, supervisors, management). Also, emphasize consistency and reciprocity by highlighting the participation benefits and ensure any statistics you share about participation are accurate to avoid negative effects. Finally, timing matters too; sending reminders in the morning or just after lunch on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays can increase response rates.
In a standard process the Culture Scan is delivered in just six weeks, from intake to deliverables.
The Culture Scan has 3 deliverables, based on the Awareways package:
Sjoerd van Veldhuizen
