Wanted: technical support specialist

Step into the role of Wave Guardian and help us deliver unparalleled technical support for our innovative software! We are looking for a Technical Support Specialist who will assist our development team by managing client’s environments and maintaining our internal service desk.

The development team is usually busy with improving our behavioral change learning platform called “Wave” which is being used by our clients across various branches in over 35 languages.

This position requires some technical knowledge about software. You don’t need to have software development experience, the specific tasks you can learn on the job, but any experience is welcome!

Training management

“Trainings” in Wave are the primary way our users learn about topics like information security. These trainings contain lots of content, be it quizzes with questions or other various formats.

Content for a training is created by our Learning and Development specialists and one of our Programme Managers in collaboration with the client’s contact person.

When the content is approved, the Programme Manager submits a content request in JSON to our development team. A Technical Support Specialist could help the team in this process by:

  • Setting up and releasing the training(s)
  • Ensuring the integrity of the JSON file
  • Checking the training content is correct
  • Processing changes to the content

Servicedesk duty

When things don’t work as expected in Wave, or when our colleagues require assistance, we receive tickets in our servicedesk. These issues span a wide range of topics, so we don’t expect our Technical Support Specialist to resolve them outright.

Instead, our Wave guardian can serve as our first line of defense, attempting to identify familiar problems and otherwise directing our development team to these issues. By taking ownership of reported issues, the guardian makes sure issues are not overlooked, are proactively responded to and making sure they’re being handled by the team in a timely manner.

Manual tasks

Assisting the development team as the Wave guardian also means handling important tasks that are fundamental to complete the client’s program implementations of our platform. Examples are:

  • Setting up new environments and connections
  • Adding or changing the logo, theme and languages of an environment
  • Eventually: Reproducing reported bugs in order to help the team capture them

Team insights

Our culturally diverse development team consists of a tech lead, a product designer and product owner, 2 front developers and 4 back end developers who all work 32-40 hours on a weekly basis. The team has weekly sprint meetings to discuss the progress of ongoing activities. We work from the office and from home.

What are we asking for?

Someone who…

  • Can offer the team 12-16 hours support on a weekly basis
  • Has some technical knowledge of working with terminals, command lines and a general understanding of computer operations
  • Understands, speaks and writes English
  • Is living in the Netherlands and willing and able to work (partially) from our office in Utrecht

What do you get in return?

A varied job with plenty of room for personal and professional development. The organization is young and rapidly growing, providing ample opportunities for professional growth. The employment conditions are competitive and depend on relevant work experience.
