Wanted: hands-on business controller for scale-up

WANTED: BUSINESS CONTROLLER

Scale-up ambitions? Awareways, a rapidly growing organization providing security awareness solutions worldwide, is looking for a hands-on business controller to optimize our administration and control and get them ready for the next phase.

Business Controller at Awareways

Awareways provides security awareness solutions that raise awareness of cyber risks and improve behavior regarding these risks among its clients’ employees. Thanks to our expertise in the fields of psychology, gamification, didactics and design, those clients include Heineken, Stimuleringsfonds, Ministry of Justice & Security, Tax and Customs Administration, Allianz, Schiphol and the Volksbank.

Awareways is experiencing tremendous growth. It currently employs about 65 people. The founders would like to transfer the financial management to a professional who can also take it to the next level. In addition to various financial administration tasks, there are various projects and opportunities to optimize matters, especially when it comes to setting up the ERP package and further professionalizing project organization and management.
Personal initiative is an important factor here.

What we’re looking for

As Business Controller, you will have responsibility for the organization’s finances. Your two most important tasks are keeping correct and timely financial records and creating useful management information.

A lot of data is available for optimal information provision, but obtaining and utilizing management information can be improved. This data, which you have helped to create, and your advisory role towards management go hand in hand: you know where the organization is at financially, draw up the periodic management information and the annual budget. In addition, in cooperation with the accountant, you take care of a correct VAT declaration, administration of debtors and creditors, a smooth payment flow (with the support of an administrative assistant) and the preparation of the annual accounts.

You will also be involved in the payroll administration (outsourced) and the optimization of our ERP software. This include looking for avenues of optimization and a role as primary contact person for the suppliers of these packages/services.

To ensure that the processes run as smoothly as possible, we are looking for a proactive controller who prepares reports, develops dashboards and issues recommendations. In our self-managing organization, you will be given plenty of room to do so, with the freedom to work with our data team for analyses and forecasts, our software development team and of course our program managers, the primary contacts for our clients.

To sum up

In your role as business controller you will be responsible for:

  • taking care of the financial administration;
  • taking care of the monthly closing;
  • preparing various financial analyses and reports and proactively discussing these with the management and clusterleads;
  • directing the annual budgeting process.

To our business controller, administration, control and budgets are second nature. You are also someone who identifies improvement opportunities and then takes the initiative for implementation and execution. Finally, you are the first point of contact for salary administrator, accountant and tax specialist.

Acquisition on the basis of this vacancy is not appreciated.
