ChatGPT x Awareways: opportunities and challenges for information security

We can potentially introduce a whole series on the virtues – and dangers – of ChatGPT. And when you replace ‘ChatGPT’ with ‘AI in general’, Pandora’s Box gets bigger still. So let’s start small.

We’ve asked colleagues from different clusters to what extent they already use ChatGPT, and what they see as opportunities and flaws of the revolutionary language model in the context of their daily routine.

The Rise of Artificial Intelligence

ChatGPT is an advanced conversational chatbot. When launched last fall, early adopters of the -then- 3.0 version were astounded by the possibilities of OpenAI’s flagship software program. Currently available in its 4.0, it is one of the most powerful artificial intelligence language models in the world, capable of discussing anything. Initial amazement at AI advancements quickly gave rise to concerns as well.

Yes, it offers huge opportunities for innovations in advanced cybersecurity. Scanning, monitoring and debugging by means of artificial intelligence introduces a lot of potential support for security measures. However, it opens up fresh lanes for the other side as well. Next-level phishing, AI-coded malware, eerily ‘real’ fake news and automation of data breaches and identity theft, to name a few. We’ll get into all of it.

Through the eyes of…

Let’s take a look at what ChatGPT can bring to our daily routine. We’ve walked past the desks of our data analytics, learning & development
and behavioral psychology clusters to find out how they reflect on ChatGPT’s magic.

‘Focus on the potential benefits’

“The rise of AI can be likened to the steam engine, a huge leap at the time, performing work faster and more efficiently. Society was afraid of job losses then and we’re seeing that again now. We should focus on the positives, find out how it can support your daily routine.”

‘Beware cookie cutter content’

There’s a huge potential for [AI] output to turn all online content into cookie cutter monotony, with the commonality of lacking any originality or distinction. That’s because at its core, it lacks creativity. Which is to say, it simply cannot replace – or even match – human creativity.”
