Awareways Connect: Recap of the first edition and a glimpse into the future

Why do we organize Awareways Connect? We wanted to create an event where our clients can meet each other and we can share knowledge about observations and innovations. During the first edition of Awareways Connect on March 5th, we highlighted our focus areas and concluded with interactive sessions where clients engaged in discussions about statements. We’d love to tell you more about the topics that were covered.

Digital Dexterity

At Awareways, there is a significant focus on developing digital skills among our clients, also known as ‘being digitally fit’. These skills are inherently linked to working safely and contribute to the ability to work safely, as evidenced by the cultural scans at various clients. It’s evident that there is a clear relationship between the level of digital skill and working safely. In other words, the more skilled you are, the easier it is to learn to work safely.

Due to the growing demand for these skills, we have developed two new micro-learning modules together with Evides to help employees become digitally skilled: Digital Fitness and Skill Development. In the micro-learning module ‘Digital Fitness’, employees learn about the importance of efficient and effective work, online collaboration, and the agreements that come with it. Additionally, we share knowledge about the use of relevant online tools, such as tips for managing mailboxes, file storage, and the importance of shortcuts.

The micro-learning module on digital skills emphasizes safe working in changing circumstances. Employees learn to understand why keeping up with knowledge and curiosity about technological solutions is essential, the importance of learning from colleagues, and how to come up with creative solutions to digital challenges. The ultimate goal of this micro-learning module is to make employees more digitally skilled, resulting in a safer working environment.

Just in Time Learning

Another essential aspect that Awareways focuses on intensively is the concept of ‘Just in Time Learning’. This means delivering knowledge at the moment it’s needed. Currently, we’re actively implementing this with our adaptive phishing simulation. The complexity is tailored to the individual user. This means that people who are less adept at recognizing phishing emails, the ‘serial clickers’, don’t receive the same type of emails repeatedly but instead get challenges that better suit their level. The aim is to provide an optimal learning experience by tailoring the challenge to the skills of the individual user.

Project Holy Grail

Lastly, we’re focusing on a challenging and ambitious project: Project Holy Grail. The goal of Project Holy Grail is to create one metric that maps the risk of employees. By smartly organizing our fundamental data streams, we get a final product that is worth more than the sum of its parts. One metric makes it clearer more quickly what the situation is, and people get a better idea of how the different interventions intersect and can reinforce each other. The aim is a holistic approach to risk assessment and the maturity level of employees.

Using tools such as the cultural scan and the phishing simulation, and gathering additional objective data (such as the number of reports), we aim to increase awareness and positively influence behavior. This holistic approach enables us to become even more effective in promoting a safe working environment.
